CAMERON COTTON-O’BRIEN, J.D.
BIOGRAPHY & INTRODUCTION
Cameron Cotton-O’Brien is a criminal defence lawyer, based in Toronto. He practices across Ontario, at both the appellate and trial levels, and has appeared at all levels of court in the province.
Prior to starting Cotton-O’Brien Law, Mr. Cotton-O’Brien articled and worked as an associate at a top Toronto criminal trial and appeal firm, before joining another top criminal trial and appeal firm as an associate.
During his studies at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Mr. Cotton-O’Brien served as a caseworker at Downtown Legal Services, Criminal Division, and volunteered for the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers.
Before law school Mr. Cotton-O’Brien undertook graduate research in political theory at McGill University, where his thesis focused on the right to justification in criminal punishment. While there, he taught classes on ancient political thought and the ethical thought of Aristotle and Nietzsche. Mr. Cotton-O’Brien was a visiting doctoral researcher at the Goethe University in Frankfurt-am-Main.
